Our
School
Rhode
Street School is located in the south western Hamilton suburb of
Dinsdale. The school was established in 1959 and caters from Year
0 to Year 8 students.
The
school has a mix of renovated and new learning spaces, comprised
of 10 well resourced classrooms, a refurbished library and computer
suite, a new community hall, a George Parkin Gifted and Talented
Centre, a Out of School Care Centre, and a swimming pool.
We
have a Year 4 to 8 bi-lingual class restricted to twenty two students,
a kaiawhina and a kaiako.
The
grounds are very attractive and provide a pleasant school environment
for staff, students and parents, with the extensive shaded areas
provided by beautiful well established trees, and an expansive field,
large asphalt court and attractive cobble stone paving.
Our
school is multi-cultural in its composition with children attending
the school coming from Korea, the Congo, India, United States of
America, Australia, the Cook Islands, Tonga, China, as well as our
Maori and European Kiwis.
Our
school continues to grow in size, but with our commitment to low
class numbers of 1:15 in the first three years of schooling and
an average of 1:22 in our middle and senior school, we are maintaining
our family atmosphere that makes our school an attractive choice
for your child. Our board and staff are committed to continuous
improvement, clear boundaries and high expectations, and expect
all our children to care with us for our values.
